Q&A with M.King: A Special on Gun Violence Against God's People

This Q&A with M. King: We talk with M. King about the latest special Cross First News: Gun Violence Against God's People.

Interviewer: The latest Cross First News special speaks on gun violence and the Christian faith. What inspired you to create this media production?

M.King: You know, I think for me it's just hearing about all the gun violence that's happening in our nation and just how it's impacting the church. Thinking back to Columbine, how the Columbine shooters were asking people if they were Christians and then killing them. Looking at today, I know that I started thinking about this when I heard about a shooter going into a Catholic school. I remember specifically a man killing the pastor's young daughter. And then you look at just recently how there was a shooting at a Mormon church, how an individual went in there, killed individuals, and then set the church on fire. I really felt led to speak out and say something about what's going on and just inspire and encourage believers in the faith.

Interviewer: You know, when you look at the church and you think about its open philosophy—being an open and welcoming environment—and you think about gun violence, do you think that can hinder and impact the church from being the open, welcoming environment it's always been?

M.King: You know, I think when you think about the church, it is very open; it's a very non-threatening environment. I think the one thing that helps us welcome people in, unfortunately, helps us welcome the wrong people in. I know at my church, we have security, and they do kind of blend in with the crowd. But I think for a lot of churches, I think the day and age of trying to be this open environment that looks non-threatening—gosh, I think that may be coming to a close; it may have already. I think about Lakewood, how there was a shooter who came into the church, and I think it was an off-duty police officer who ended up, I believe, killing the shooter, right? We have to have these things in mind, and the church—there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, there's no way around it—we're entering into this age where we have to not only welcome the sheep in but, as shepherds, protect the sheep.

Interviewer: Thinking about gun violence and the people of the Christian faith, one of the things that I wanted to ask you was: Do you think the media plays a big part in fueling the gun violence against Christians?

M.King:  You know, I think that's kind of been a debated thing for some time. I think the media plays a huge part in people trying to copy the events of what someone has done. I remember reading about prior school shootings before Columbine, but here's the kicker: I really didn't know much about it because I didn't hear about it over the mass media. Now, after Columbine, you hear so much about it because the media is always bringing so much attention to it, bringing so much attention to the shooters, bringing so much attention to the way they were thinking in their manifestos and a lot of things that they're all about. I think the media, in an effort to try to inform, has almost created a kind of a mass media effect, if I can call it that, where people do idolize it. I think the media has got to figure out a better way to put out information so that it doesn't shine a positive light on these people but, in essence, shines a negative light that all circles and all personalities can see and learn from.

Interviewer: Given the high rate of violence against houses of worship, should these acts be formally categorized and addressed as religious persecution against the Christian faith in America?

M.King: You know, I think when it comes down to it, from a spiritual standpoint, I'm going to say yes. We as the church have to understand spiritual warfare—no ifs, ands, or buts about it. And when I look at it, I really do believe the devil's empire is pushing against the House of the Lord. I think it behooves us as people to develop ways to reach out into the community to welcome people long before they come into our houses and make us feel unwelcome.

Q&A with M.King: From Fear to Faith at Motivate 2025

In this Q&A, M. King reflects on both the ministry's digital and spiritual growth, discussing their plan to strengthen their online community and media productions while directly confronting the spiritual obstacles facing modern Christians at Motivate 2025.

What are the immediate, specific, and measurable goals the ministry is focusing on as they kick off their "ministry season" with Motivate 2025?

M.King: You know, as we kick off our 13th ministry season and prepare for our 13th anniversary this May, I think one of the things that we are looking at as far as our goals go is really focusing on strengthening our social media content as well as strengthening the amount and the quality of media productions we put out. The biggest thing on my heart this ministry season is really building a community, understanding how, as an online ministry, we have the opportunity and the ability to build a community online.

How does this biblical lesson in Motivate 2025 about the fear of man translate into the specific, common struggles of a modern, faith-based audience in 2025?

M.King: You know, I think fear is everything—not in the sense of everything we should have or obey, but it’s everything we should walk away from. Satan uses fear as a weapon to try to keep us from the will of God. He uses fear to keep us from being at peace in God. Satan uses fear in such a way that he causes us to worry more about what someone will think as opposed to thinking about what God will think. And I think for us as a people, that’s a distraction.

I think we have to fight fear and understand that walking in faith doesn’t mean you won't deal with fear. It doesn’t mean you’re not going to have fear. It means that you’re going to look to the Lord, focus on Him, and be still, realizing that even though things aren’t how and where you want them to be, faith is trusting in the Lord, whereas fear is turning away from Him.

Disobedience, fear, and distraction. Which of these three do you believe is the greatest threat to the spiritual growth of Christians today, and why??

M.King:  To be honest with you, I think when you look at all three of them, I think distraction is the greatest of them all. Why? Because fear leads to disobedience, and disobedience becomes a distraction. At the end of the day, Satan is trying whatever he can to distract us from God, to distract us from the gospel, to distract us from spending time in God's word, to distract us from getting close to the Spirit, to distract us from understanding the natural way of [life], to distract us from what we need to be focusing on in life, to distract us from our goals.

Distraction, I believe, is the biggest thing we’re dealing with. Even the Church is being distracted, I think, in this day and age by politics. But distraction is above all, which then leads to fear and disobedience.

"

What specific message of hope and encouragement does the organization offer to those currently in the middle of a trial, still waiting for their deliverance"?

M.King: You know, as we go into this ministry season, I want people to understand that I think we're all out there waiting for delivery from something. We're all going through something right now, and we're all dealing with something where we want God to help us. You know, one of the things I've learned is to give it over to God and ask God to fill that area in my life or my heart with His Spirit, and to leave it. To have faith that God has already worked at work in it, He’s already handling it, He’s already solving it, He’s already doing whatever He needs to do, right? It's the old cliché adage: Let go and let God.

Q&A with M.King: M.King's 8-Month A.I. Journey

This Q&A with M.King; M.King reflects on the challenges and lessons of producing an eight-month-long News report on AI, emphasizing its potential as a tool for both good and harm and the need for believers to be responsible in its use.

How does it feel to wrap up a production that took more than eight months to complete?

M.King: "You know, I think it really makes me step back and appreciate and understand that sometimes you can't have everything when you want it. No amount of planning, no amount of praying, could have prepared me for something like this. Our first new special took eight months to produce, and at the end of the day, I really think it was worth it. I believe the reason it took a long time was because God wanted me to learn something I had never considered before—something that would have, I think, made the production less impactful, since it was a special about showing people the ups and downs of AI."

So, with this latest "Cross First News" special in the books, do you feel like you've been changed by this project, and if so, how?

M.King:  "To be completely honest and transparent with you, I learned a lot. Going from someone who just started using AI about a year, year and a half ago, to finishing up a 21-minute special about AI was definitely a huge learning curve. I think it showed me the possibilities, like with the Vatican. It definitely showed me that there are questions, like with the church. It showed me the dangers, as with one segment talking about suicide among youth. I think it definitely helps me as an organization to sit back and realize that while we do have a long way to go when it comes to understanding AI and implementing it into M.King Media, more, it's good that we did the special because we have a better understanding of what's going on out there as believers.

"

I know we talked a little about this special earlier this year, but I want to ask you this question—maybe we've asked it before—what do you want people to gain from this special as believers?

M.King: "You know, I hope that believers definitely come to the understanding and realization that AI is a tool. When you look at social media, it has become so much that you now see it leading people's decisions and leading their lives. One of the things I learned about AI is that it's doing the same in some areas. With the Vatican, it's helping them learn more about the structure, but it's also helping them notice cracks. It's leading and guiding them in their decisions about preservation. The third story in our special, with Sewell Setzer III, AI led and guided him to commit suicide.

So, as believers, we have to understand that we have a responsibility not only to ourselves but to others to understand and share this when it comes to AI. We have to be safe, responsible, and smart when it comes to implementing a new tool like this, and definitely when it comes to spreading knowledge about it. It's something incredible now, but we have to be very accountable to each other about it."

Q&A with M.King: M.King Reflects on Turning 40 Years Old

In this Q&A with M. King, we speak to M.King about turning 40 and ask him to reflect on his time as a Christian, his spiritual inspirations

As you turn 40, how has your perspective on success and legacy evolved, particularly through the lens of your Christian faith and your work with M.King Media INC.?

M.King: "When I first started this ministry, I think to me, success was going into ministry full-time. I've long believed that leaving a legacy is about reaching people for Christ. Back then, it was perhaps about the number of people I reached, and that's still the case. However, as a Christian and a believer doing M. King Media Inc., it's been years. Even though I may not see a way for me to go full-time or have what my heart desires, the "virtual lights" are still on, God is still on the throne, and lives still need to be reached. To be completely honest with you, I think God has matured me in that sense. He's helped me to understand things that I didn't understand before when I started M.King Media in 2013 at the age of 27."

Looking back, what's one significant way your Christian faith has guided a major decision in your personal or professional life over the past four decades, and how did that decision impact your journey to where you are today?

M.King:  "You know, I think we, as people, are very quick to try to make decisions that lead to the least amount of regret and the most amount of success. For me, however, we have to understand that the Christian faith isn't always about that. It's about seeking God's will and growing, whether that means spiritually or externally. My Christian faith has guided me in a way that has allowed me to truly understand that.

I've been a Christian for most of my life on this earth. When I look at where my life is as a believer versus where it was as a sinner, I may not be exactly where I want to be. But I thank God that I have the peace to know that He has guided me and directed my path through everything I've been through. Whether it's been a job search, my time in the military, or even deployment and coming back into the civilian world, He's always guided me and been with me. So, I have to understand that He is a part of me, and I am seeking His will. Even if His will isn't going the way I want, it's going the way He wants, and that's what matters most."

The media landscape is constantly changing. How do you find spiritual grounding and maintain your principles within such a dynamic industry, especially as you hit this new decade?

M.King: "You know, if I can be frank, it's hard; there's temptation out there. First off, if I told you I didn't deal with the desire to be known, to be "out there," and to see my media reach more people, I'd be lying. It's sometimes a struggle when you see someone make one post on social media, and it suddenly goes viral.

As the media landscape is changing, and as social media seems to become more core, we as a ministry are doing everything we can to adapt. It may not be at my pace, but it's at God's pace. God knows what I need to do to be the person He wants me to be and to build the ministry He desires."

What biblical figures or teachings have most resonated with you as you've navigated the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship and leadership, particularly as you've matured in your faith and ministry?

M.King:  "You know, to be honest, I think two biblical figures that have resonated with me are Joseph and Daniel. As a dreamer, meaning God speaks to me in my dreams, interacts with me in my sleep, and gives me the ability to prophesy, I look at Joseph and Daniel. Sometimes, I resonate with their lives.

Thinking about Joseph and how he had to go through situations he didn't ask to go through to become the man God wanted him to be: think about it, he had to endure a lot of trials and tribulations he didn't want to go through to reach the goal he desired. I think about Daniel; he never got to go back home. His family was unfairly killed, he was in Babylon with his friends, and he never got to return to Jerusalem—not that he was missing much, considering its destruction. But imagine spending all that time in a place you didn't want to be.

Right now, I'm working in a security job I don't want to be in; I want to run my ministry full-time. Sometimes, it brings peace to help me understand that God is still there. Just because we don't see what we want doesn't mean we don't see who we need to see, and that's Jesus. Jesus can still be there, and it doesn't have to be the way we want it to be. It's like when the disciples were on the water; the situation wasn't what they wanted, but Jesus was coming their way."

Many people experience a period of reflection and re-evaluation around age 40. Has this milestone prompted any specific spiritual insights or a renewed sense of purpose for you, both personally and for M.King Media INC.?

M.King: You know, I think one thing I find myself focusing on is something I heard from Dr. David Jeremiah, and it goes like this: "Vision plus consistency equals godly success." I find myself thinking more about that as I get older. Godly success is whatever God has for you; it's not necessarily what you want.

Vision isn't just having an idea of what you want to do in the future and hoping you get there; it's being proactive, not reactive. Lately, God has been dealing with me about goals and how to properly set them in my ministry as well as in my life. So, I think God is giving me a renewed sense spiritually as far as what vision is, what consistency is, and what godly success is. I think that's what we're going to see moving forward: more of that resonating not only in my life but in my ministry.

Q&A with M.King: What Is the Public Opinion on Cross First News.com?

In this Q&A with M. King, we discussed the latest survey conducted for the brand-new Cross First News website. What did he learn, and what information was gathered that will help Cross First News and M.King Media in the future?

So, in the past, you did surveys, but this year you decided to restart them during the summer. What brought that on?

M.King: "Well, to be honest with you, I feel like the only way we can improve as an organization is by engaging with the general public. I've always wanted to really get the general public's ideas and understanding (focusing on the Christian audience) about how we're doing as an organization—what's impacting them and what's not. And so, I really felt God leading me to do a survey for the new Christian website to see if it's effective. I think sometimes we can get into our own heads and end up changing something that, in the long run, could have been impactful for someone else. So, that's what ended up leading to this survey and will lead to more surveys."

So, when you conducted this survey, what did you learn that didn't surprise you, and what did you learn that surprised you?

M.King:  "Well, one of the things I learned that did surprise me was that people liked—and this was actually one of the big things people liked, I think in the top two—the amount of information. People loved the fact that there was a lot of info and many stories to read, and they liked that it was from Christian news sources.

Something that didn't surprise me was the design. As an organization, we're moving toward a more, I want to say, minimal, modern design. We're really trying to create something that not only looks good on websites but also on mobile devices and tablets. So, I don't think that really surprised me because I've definitely spent a lot of time working on the aesthetics."

So, when it comes down to the people who were chosen for this survey, how many people did you choose, and what were the criteria you used to select these individuals?

M.King:  "To be honest with you, I chose 50 participants, which I think was the lowest I could get through our survey distributor. I really wanted to focus on Christians. I ended up getting a lot more than just Christians, but much of the audience I got—I think 70% give or take—was Christian.

For me, that was good to hear what they had to say because it is, again, Cross First News, so it's Christian news. It was great to hear their opinions and to understand how they think. I mean, I did get a lot of positive feedback, but I also received one, two, three, or four negative comments, which is still good."

So now that you have all this information, what do you plan on doing with it? How do you plan on using this information to continue to improve Cross First News and to continue reaching individuals with the message of Jesus Christ?

M.King:  "Well, to be honest with you, I really think we're going to take this information to heart. A lot of people genuinely like what we have to offer, and that really motivates and encourages me. So, I'll be honest, that's one of the main things it does for me—it encourages me.

We're going to do our best to continue improving on what we've started. I think it's a good thing because it's giving us a foothold, a reminder that we're heading in the right direction with what we're putting out there. Sometimes it may not get the numbers we want, but sometimes all you need are just a few more eyes to see how much potential there is already."

Q&A with M.King: State of the Ministry at 12 Years | SPECIAL EDITION

In this special edition Q&A with M.King, we talk about the '2025 State of the Ministry Report' and celebrate M.King Media's 12th birthday

For starters, where did the idea for the 'State of the Ministry Report' come from, and what is the 'State of the Ministry Report' as of 2025?

M.King: "Well, to be honest, the '2025 State of the Ministry Report' is to publicly celebrate what God has done through our strengths, weaknesses, and goals throughout the year as we move toward fulfilling our mission of pointing people to Jesus Christ.

The whole idea behind this actually came from a very unusual place. My favorite NFL team is the Jacksonville Jaguars, and I felt God leading me to do something different for this anniversary year, for this anniversary month. Usually, we just list all of the updated media projects we've done, and that's it. But I really think God was leading me to say, 'You need to take a step back from trying to do everything during the annual report.' I would usually do the annual report and then try to create the goals for the next year, but it wasn't working out. Sometimes we'd hit them, sometimes we'd miss. But I really felt God leading me to kind of do what the Jacksonville Jaguars do: to create a public-facing event that talks about what's going on with the team and what the public has to look forward to. It kind of helps to build momentum, and we weren't doing that for our anniversary. So, I think the time has come to start doing that."

So what's the first thing we're going to look at?

M.King: The first thing we're going to look at is the projects we've done over the last year.

Project Showcases: Highlighting successful projects done throughout the year

+ M.King Media remodeled its store (May–October '24)

+ Produced “Cross First News Special: In God We Trust.”

+ Produced “Motivate Moments 106-110”,

+ Produced Motivate 2024 Event

+ Started work on Devotional #7

+ Started a new event called “Outreach 2025: a social media event”

+ Second “Cross First News Special: AI on the Rise” went into production.

+ Worked on and launched CrossFirstNews.com

So now that we've looked at the successful projects, what are we going to look at next?

M.King: Next, I want to talk about our partnership announcements and what we have developed leading into May of 2025

Partnership Announcements: Showing how strategic partnerships/collaborations help influence our media and expand our faith-focused reach

“M.King Media INC. added new partnerships with the launch of CrossFirstNews.com. This announcement caught us off guard when, in January of this year (2025), the Lord spoke to my spirit and impressed upon me to expand the Cross First News brand into a sister site for M.King Media. This action, God knew, would pave the way for new opportunities, especially as our Google Grant wrapped up in 2024. This expansion would also provide us with greater reach while spending less financially.

For us, partnerships with various faith-based news outlets (like Christian Post, Christian Daily, and Jerusalem Post) truly allow us to gain experience and understand how M. King Media can apply its faith-focused mission in other ways and with other organizations that share our passion for the faith.”

Next, as far as the community goes, what did M.King Media INC. do within a year?

M.King: Well, in looking at the community, we didn't just look at the physical community outside of our four walls, we also looked at our social media community

Community Engagement: Demonstrating the impact and commitment to the PHX/Christian community and its role in supporting connection via the social media community.

“M.King Media INC. had the opportunity to reach our community, both via social media and locally in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The first way we did this was through our "Motivate 2024" event. We ended up donating a certain amount of money to the Mesa, AZ food bank, which allowed us to help feed 400 people. It was a great privilege to be able to be so involved in something like this, and our hope is that one small gesture can help bring someone to Jesus Christ.”

Lastly, wrapping up this report, what does M.King Media INC see for its future?

M.King: For our future, this is what I see God calling us to look forward to moving beyond May of 2025

Future Goals and Vision: Outlining the ministry's aspirations for the coming year and beyond.

Nativity Channel Launch (Winter 2025): One of our goals for the winter of 2025 is to launch another 24/7 channel, which will be called "The Nativity Channel." We previously mentioned working on it last Christmas, but our hope is to debut it this coming Christmas. We plan to make it available during the Christmas season, and if all goes well, possibly even 24/7 throughout the entire year.

This means people will be able to enjoy Christmas music, Christmas plays, and Christmas teachings from the Bible all throughout the Christmas season. This channel will be an extension of the “M.King Media Channel”, currently named "The Nativity Channel."

Improving Social Media Output: I believe one of the things God has been teaching me over the last two years, since our 10th anniversary, is how to balance production, operations, and administrative tasks. One area that has fallen by the wayside and needs continued development is social media. M. King Media INC. has really stepped back from social media, but I think with the venture into our own news website, we now have the opportunity to experience more growth.

We now have the chance to increase our social media presence, and that will take time for us to understand what we need to do. However, the overall goal for the next year is to improve our social media output and share more content. This will allow us to continue pointing people to Jesus Christ, not only from the M. King Media side but now also from the Cross First News side.

Growing our media production output: I truly believe one final area where we are expecting to see growth within the next year is in our media production output. We have been doing special projects behind the scenes, and as you can see, we have been very active, both in front of the audience and behind the scenes. However, my goal is to go back to our roots and put out more traditional media, like the Friday blog.

We haven't done the Friday blog in a few years and haven't worked on it in two years. My heart's desire is to produce more media to leverage our social media efforts. In a sense, more media means more social media. I would also like to go back and do more mini-documentaries; we have one in the works on King James I & IV. So, my desire within the next year is to produce more media productions.

Q & A Apr '25.png

APRIL 2025 | BLOG

Q&A with M. King: A Closer Look at CrossFirstNews.com

In this Q&A with M.King, we talked with him more deeply and in depth about crossfirstnews.com: who he is trying to reach, and what he wants to accomplish with this new Christian news website.

What specific need or gap in the existing Christian news landscape are you hoping to address with this new platform?

M.King: I think one thing we've gotten good at in the Christian news landscape is providing different niche Christian news websites, right? Uh, Jerusalem Post, The Christian Post, Christian Daily. But, needless to say, one thing we don't have is a resource or news website that reaches out to these different resources and tries to pull their stuff into one website. And so, I think one thing that we are going to have with Cross First News is we're going to have a Christian news website that gives you a variety of different things from all over the world, all focused on the faith.

Who is the target audience for crossfirstnews.com, and what kind of content strategy will you employ to effectively reach and engage this demographic?

M.King: Well, to be very honest with you, our target audience for crossfirstnews.com is Christians who are very interested, right? They have a unique interest in the faith and want to know what's going on out there from our faith-based perspective. Whether that be from the Jewish perspective, the Christian news perspective, Christian politics, entertainment, or even archaeology (which I kind of think is interesting when they find certain things like that), we want to focus on bringing content to this type of person.

Our goal is to show that Christian news isn't boring. There's always something interesting going on out there, and there are always people trying to highlight it, except it's from a faith-based standpoint. So, with us, we want to have a content strategy where we focus on curating our social media content eventually. We'll focus on really interesting stories and put that out there through our expanded e-mail distribution and by making media, where we'll focus on five genuine stories that we found interesting to kind of pique someone's interest. I think really honing in on that and focusing on the fact that Christian news stories can be interesting and something you really didn't think about is key for us.

How will crossfirstnews.com ensure its Christian news is fair, accurate, and not biased?

M.King: You know, I think this is one upside of running a Christian news website like Cross First News: we lean on multiple sources for our news. So, at the end of the day, you get a different perspective on Christian news, right? Another thing I like is the fact that you are working with and using feeds and news sources that have been around for a while. Right, like I said, we certainly can't reinvent the wheel, but tapping into these news sources and certainly using their expertise and what they bring to the table, I think, certainly allows us to focus on a topic from different standpoints and perspectives, and certainly curate a news website that is, I think, both fulfilling and strengthening when it comes to people's faith.

Note: CrossFirstNews.com will officially debut on May 1st, 2025

MARCH 2025 | BLOG

Q & A with M. King: Phase 2 of M.King Media Is About to Begin

In this Q&A with M.King, we talk with him about what has been going on behind the scenes since January of this year, and how we could soon see M.King Media expanding with another website.

So, you gave up the Google Grant last year because you felt the Lord calling you to do it. What do you believe God did this year because of that sacrifice last year?

M.King: You know, last year we had to let go of the Google Grant. The amount of money we were spending just wasn't yielding the same amount in returns, so it was a relief when that was finally off our plate. But I remember seeking God, like, 'Lord, what are we going to do now?' And I know I've reached out to organizations to help us expand, and it seemed like doors just hadn't opened. It's interesting, because to start off the new year, God put on my heart to purchase the domain name for crossfirstnews.com. And when we looked it up, it was available and we were able to purchase it in February.

So, with the purchase of this web domain, what do you hope to accomplish by building a news website?

M.King: Well, first and foremost, I think where God wants us to go is to build something that I haven't seen before in the Christian faith. It's pretty much called a news aggregator site, and I truly believe that something like this will be a real benefit, especially in this day and age when Christians like to look at multiple resources and see different sources showing us various news pieces, if that makes sense. So, I think that this is going to be a game-changer for us in the faith. It's going to help us bring different sources of Christian faith news together in one area, and be able to share what's going on, up-to-date, faster, and get us up to speed even better than what we have right now.

One of the negative ways learned was about a young boy who fell in love with an AI character and ended up taking his life because the AI bot told him to. It's sad because in this day and age, we have a generation of youth who have grown up online, like that's all they know. So for them, it's sad when they can't distinguish reality from fantasy, human from AI, and you have someone so caught up emotionally with an AI character that they would fall in love with it and do almost whatever it tells them to do.

So, for the last question in this interview, what do you see ahead for M.King Media and this ministry expansion called crossfirstnews.com?

M.King: "To be very honest with you, I truly hope that this can be something different for the Christian faith. I truly hope this can be a different avenue that God can use to reach people, that God can use to encourage people with hope and the message of Jesus Christ. I think I've already said it before: I hope that this can be a better way for people to consume their news from a faith-based news site, rather than a secular news site. I mean, what we're doing isn't new; secular sites have been doing it for years. And I think it's nice that we have an organization that genuinely wants to do it, not because it's something the secular world is doing, but because it's needed. There are times I find myself at the desk at my security job, I have a little spare time on my hands, and I'll look at the news. I'll go to Yahoo or MSN and look at their news aggregator sites, and then I have to hop from Christian news site to Christian news site to Christian news site. So, to be very honest with you, I think this will be something that is not only beneficial for a guy like me doing security, but for anybody out there who's a believer who wants to consume their news a bit faster, get updates a lot sooner, and focus on their faith a lot better

Q & A with M. King: A News Special About AI and Its Rise

This Q&A with M. King looks into the Cross First News special about AI and discusses what was learned about AI and how it is making its rise in the world around us and also in the church.

The latest special from Cross First News is called "AI on the Rise." What was the intent and the goal of this special event?

M.King: The whole idea behind this special was to take a close look at AI and understand its pros and cons. It's certainly something that is here to stay, and so we wanted to show just how we as Christians can approach this tech in positive ways and also understand how Satan is using it in negative ways.

You say that you wanted to look at the positives and the negatives. What example can you give us about some of the things you learned?

M.King: One of the positive things that was learned is how they are using AI to help map and create a digital representation of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The idea is that they took almost half a million digital photos of the place and are using that to look for cracks and damages as well as giving those who can't make it to Rome and those who can an opportunity to see parts of the facility like never before, like St. Peter's tomb, which is held below.

One of the negative ways learned was about a young boy who fell in love with an AI character and ended up taking his life because the AI bot told him to. It's sad because in this day and age we have a generation of youth who have grown up online, like that's all they know. So for them, it's sad when they can't distinguish reality from fantasy, human from AI, and you have someone so caught up emotionally with an AI character that they would fall in love with it and do almost whatever it tells them to do.

As AI begins to rise in our world, what advice do you want to give to those reading this?

M.King: You know, as AI becomes the new thing in our world, kind of like the Internet in the early 2000's, I feel that we as the people of God need to understand that this tool is very much different and is a self-learning tool, and when you think about it, now is not the time to be lax. Now is the time to truly lean and depend on the things of God and His kingdom and to truly have safeguards in place because the same tool that can help us can also, without the right things in place, potentially kill us.

Q&A w/ M.King: An Outpouring to Kick-Off 2025

In this Q&A with M. King, we speak with M. King about a new event (Outpouring 2025) that is taking place to kick off the year 2025. We will ask him how it feels to do this new event across social media.

How did the "Outpouring 2025" event differ from other similar events or campaigns?

M.King: To be honest, I think this event is more focused on reviving people's spirits and getting them to focus more on what God can use them for and do through them in the year ahead. Previous events and campaigns were more about getting you to seek the Lord and getting you to focus on Him to hear what He says to you. I think this is a bit different because we kind of come to you with our message, and you can choose to accept the message God is giving us or make the choice to seek God even deeper. So I think this gives you more options.

What social media platforms were primarily used during the event?

M.King: For the event, the social media platforms that were used were Facebook, X (formally known as Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

Did the "Outpouring 2025" event achieve its intended goals?

M.King:  You know, looking at it for what it's worth, I do believe that, in my opinion, I originally wanted to do four days, but unfortunately, on that last day, I kind of got sick, and I wasn't able to do it. But for the three days we were able to do it, I think it reached its intended goal. We ended up getting 666 views from people on social media, and I think, for what it's worth, I think that's very much worth it. We even had one person post on social media......

Amen, bro thank you for sharing !🔥🙌

..... And so, for me, being able to hear a comment like that from someone who needed to hear something that God used us to offer means it was worth the three days.

What lessons can be learned from the "Outpouring 2025" event for future faith-based social media campaigns?

M.King: You know, I think one of the things that we can learn from this event is that when you step out and do what God is calling you to do, God's super will always fall on your natural. To put it this way, it reminds me of when Peter asked Jesus, "Hey, can I walk on water?" And Jesus said, "Come." When Peter stepped out and reached out his hand, his hand met Jesus's hand. To me, that's social media. When God called us to do this, we stepped out of our boat, and we reached out, and Jesus was there to meet us. In turn, He blessed other people who viewed our social media campaigns, and I truly believe it's going to have an impact on them for quite a long time.
